"Tehran-Moscow consultations over Syria are at different levels as the deputy FMs have been recently consulting on the phone and the foreign ministers have both met and talked on the phone,” said Mehdi Sanaei, Iran’s ambassador to Moscow told the media on Wednesday.
The Iranian diplomat reiterated that fighting terrorism has a real importance for Iran and Russia and that is the difference between the approach taken by Iran and Russia versus the one undertaken by the westerners.
“For Iran and Russia, in action and perception, terrorism is the main threat and very important issue and we share that all the measures for this cause should be coordinated before dealing with other issues,” highlighted the Iran’s envoy to Moscow, “the western countries, however, in words label terrorism as a problem but in action follow some other priorities and that is why the issue has not been resolved yet.”
He voiced hope that the western countries change their approach towards the crises in the Middle East as he asserted that there is no other way out of the current trouble; “If they [westerners] follow their policies of the last years the conditions will surely get worsened.”
Sanaei rapped the position of the West toward the issues of the region and blamed the Westerners for creation of terrorists group like the ISIL and spread of instability. He reiterated that even an agreed upon solution for the Syrian crisis cannot be put in action unless the Westerners change their view toward the issue.
